Hace poco encontré mis croquis de Londres así que ahora comenzaré a subir un poco de lo que fue vivir en esa inspiradora ciudad. Les dejo a éste alemán que escuché en el Old Queens Head Bar en Islington. Su voz era normal pero cuando cantaba era muy grave.

Me encanta ilustrar para la Revista Mujer ya que siempre me llegan cosas entretenidas. Esta vez se trataba de cinco historias de propuestas de matrimonios originales. Había que elegir dos para ilustrar así que me puse a leer. La primera es la de un piloto que le pide matrimonio a una operadora de tráfico al aterrizar y la segunda una pareja que amaba pescar y que el novio le puso el anillo en la caña. I love to illustrate for Revista Mujer because i always get to work with cool stuff.This time was about 5 stories of original marriage proposals. I had to choose two so i started to read. The first one is about a pilot who asks to marriage to a trafic air assistant when he was asking permission to land and the second one about a couple who loved fishing and the groom put the ring on the rod. Museo de los Autómatas Barcelona / Automata Museum

El Museo de los autómatas queda en el Parque de Atracciones del Tibidabo, en las alturas de la hermosa Barcelona. Cuando lo visité jamás pensé que encontraría este tesoro: una colección de más de 50 robots autómatas que datan del 1900 en perfecto estado y conservación. Estas máquinas, que nacieron en su momento para entretener al público, son hoy considerados como el primer paso de la robótica y la informática.
Los autómatas tienen un aire, entre feo y lindo, entre ternura y miedo que me llenó de curiosidad. Luís Ribas, encargado del lugar, mecánico, artista y creador de autómatas, es un apasionado que me contó sobre la historia de esta colección. Desde los inicios del parque han estado acá y se encuentran en la memoria de las antiguas generaciones que hoy vienen con sus hijos y nietos a mostrarles a los famosos robots, que con sus engranajes, su música circense y sus lentos y a veces bruscos movimientos, aún conservan la magia y logran la atención de grandes y chicos.

The Automatons Museum is in the Tibidabo Amusement Park in the upper side of the beautiful Barcelona. When i visited i never thought i would find this trasure: a collection of more than 50 robots dating from 1900 in perfect condition and conservation. These machines, wich were born to entertain the public, are now regarded as the first step of robotics and computer science.
The automatons have and air between ugly and beautiful, tenderness and fear that filled me with curiosity. Lluís Ribas, site manager, mechanic, artist and automatons creator, told me about the history of this collection. The automatons arrive in the beginning of the park and they are part of the memory of older generations that now visit the museum with their families and grandchildren to show them the famous robots, that with the gears, the circus music and the slow and sometimes jerky movements, still preserve the magic and mantain the attention of adults and children.

Yorokobu (estar feliz en Japonés), en una revista española que habla sobre las tendencias y la creatividad y se destaca por sus entretenidas y originales portadas. Para el próximo mes de febrero 2012, Yorokobu hizo un concurso para diseñar la portada y la contra portada de la revista. Recibieron 1.200 propuestas y mis diseños quedaron dentro de los finalistas en las 3 categorías. Estoy muy feliz!!
Ahora sólo falta esperar el voto del público por lo que aquí les dejo el link para que me apoyen!
Se puede votar en todas las categorías ( Portada, Contraportada y Dúo) y por más de un diseño a la vez.

Yorokobu (be happy in Japanese), its a Spanish magazine that talks about trends and creativity and is known for its entertaining and original covers. For February 2012, Yorokobu made a contest for the design of the cover and back cover of the magazine. 1200 proposals where received and my designs are finalists in 3 categories. I am very happy!

Mis talentosas amigas Alejandra Oviedo y Fita Frattini crearon Pajarito de Mimbre, un estudio de diseño que ilustra y escribe libros infantiles.También desarrollan lindos productos como este Calendario 2012 en el cual invitaron a varias ilustradoras chilenas a dibujar un pajarito para cada mes del año. Yo elegí agosto y dibujé una pavita real coquetona.
El calendario incluye los 12 meses en tela + 2 mts de cuerda y 12 perritos de ropa.Es un buen regalo ahora que se acerca la navidad!

My talented friends Alejandra Oviedo and Fita Frattini created Pajarito de Mimbre, a design studio that writes and illustrates children's books.They also develop products like this beautiful 2012 calendar in wich 12 chilean illustrators where invited to draw a bird for each month of the year. I choose august and drew this coquette peahen.
The calendar includes 2 mt of rope and 12 clothespins.

Parlante DMT / DMT speaker

Cuando estaba en Londres recibí un mail de los chicos de GrupoVibra en el cual me invitaban a ilustrar un nuevo producto que habían desarrollado. Se llama DMT y es un pequeño parlante con forma de diamante que es biodegradable, fácil de transportar y está ilustrado por artistas latinos. Por supuesto dije que sí y estoy muy contenta de ser parte de este gran proyecto que ha sido producto de muchos años de esfuerzo y ganas por potenciar el diseño nacional. Si quieren adquirir un modelo de DMT los encontrarán pronto en las tiendas de diseño más importantes del país.
Ahora los chicos se encuentran exponiendo en Tent London, una de las ferias de diseño más grandes de Europa. Si están por allá pasen a saludarlos al stand N24 de GrupoVibra.Mucha suerte en Europa chicos y a disfrutar Londres!

When i was in London i received an email from the guys at GrupoVibra in which i was invited to illustrate a new product they had developed. It is called DMT and is a small diamond-shaped speaker that is eco-friendly, easy to carry and illustrated by Latino artists. Of course i said yes and i am very happy to be part of this great project that has been the product of many years of effort and desire to enhance the national design.If you want to buy DMT you will find them soon in the most important design shops in Chile.
Now the guys are exhibiting at Tent London, one of the largest design fairs in Europe.If you are around go visit them at the N24 stand.Good luck in Europe guys and enjoy London!

Hice estos tazones para Té Club un tiempo antes de irme a Londres. Fue increíble volver y verlos en los supermercados y almacenes. Son 4 tazones coleccionables y vienen de regalo junto a una caja de Ceylan de 100 bolsitas. Este fue un proyecto muy entretenido y lo pasé muy bien creando los personajes, la mayoría inspirados de mi vida. Papás, hermanas, cuñados, pololo y amigos. Hasta el mapa de mi viaje lo pueden encontrar si miran con atención.

Corran por ellos que se agotan rápido!

I made this mugs for Té Club a while before going to London. It was amazing to come back and see them in the supermarkets. The 4 mugs are collectibles and they come with a box of Ceylan tea. It was a great proyect and i had fun creating the characters, most inspired of my life. My parents, sisters, boyfriend and friends. You can even found the map of my trip if you look carefully.

Hace unas semanas hice estas ilustraciones para un reportaje de la Revista Mujer sobre un grupo de especialistas de la belleza. Lo primero que pensé fue hacer un collage con look vintage, algo que hace rato quería hacer después de haber recorrido varios mercados y ferias en Londres. Se puede encontrar de todo en estos lugares, desde fotos antiguas hasta maletas y ropa, por lo que inspirarse resulta inevitable!

A few weeks ago i made this illustrations for Mujer Magazine about a group of beauty specialists. My first thought was making a vintage collage, wich i wanted to do after visiting several markets and fairs in London. You can find anything you want in this places, from old photographs to suitcases and clothe that makes inevitable to get some inspiration!

Today is the day!I want to thank everyone who supported me in the preparation of this trip. The last weeks have been amazing. A lot of farewells and much love. I have the best family and the best friends.

Hice estas ilustraciones para un especial de cocina de la Revista Mujer. Fue muy entretenido ya que es un tema que me encanta y en el cual trabajé muchos años por lo que me sale más rápido. Fue entretenido mezclar las fotos con las ilustraciones. Creo que el collage digital es algo a lo que le he ido tomando cariño y me encantaría seguir desarrollando.

I made these illustrations for a cooking article of Mujer magazine. I love the subject and i worked it for many years so it was very entertaining and easy to work.It was fun to mix photos with illustrations. I think the digital collage is growing on me and i hope i can keep working on it.

La talentosa ilustradora y gran amiga Alejandra Oviedo se ha embarcado en un entretenido proyecto. Junto a su pololo han creado Pinos Azules, una residencial universitaria de primer nivel que cuenta con todas las comodidades y con un toque de diseño que la Lale le ha dado a todas las piezas.

Para la decoración de la sala de estar, les pidieron sus amigos que dibujaran algún personaje de la historia de nuestro país. Así fue como me tocó Salvador.

Les adjunto algunas fotos del lugar y de los otros personajes que ahora decoran esta linda residencial.

The talented illustrator and close friend Alejandra Oviedo has embarked on a fun proyect. Along with her boyfriend created Pinos Azules, a residential university with all the comforts and a design touch.

To decorate the living room, they asked their friends to draw a character in the history of our country. I drew Salvador Allende.

I attached some pictures of the place and the other characters that now decorate this beautiful place.

Es la primera vez que ilustro para una revista y lo pasé muy bien! El reportaje era sobre datos de ropa y moda, un tema que me encanta y que hasta ahora no había tenido oportunidad de ilustrar. I recently did this illustrations for Mujer magazine and i had so much fun! The text was about clothing and fashion, a subject that i love and that i never had the opportunity to illustrate. The Flaming Lips es para mi la carta fuerte de Lollapalooza Chile y la razón por la que compré las entradas hace 2 meses y sin pensar. No sólo porque la puesta en escena es increíble, llena de globos gigantes, challa multicolor, gente disfrazada, manos gigantes con láser, sumándole esa música experimental salida de otro planeta que te hace pensar en lo corto de la vida, en disfrutar cada momento y en donde quieres saltar feliz gritando; sino que por su vocalista, el carismático Wayne Coyne, loco, genio, psicodélico, amante de las cosas simples con una imaginación sin límites, que es capaz de meterse en una pelota inflable y caminar sobre el público sólo para alegrar a los fanáticos.
Hoy llega a Chile y ganas de conocerlo no me faltan. Lo que sí es seguro, es que darán un show de aquellos, lleno de optimismo, energía y buena onda. Acá pueden ver Do you realize? una de mis favoritas. Imposible no llorar.

The Flaming Lips are for me the best band of the Lollapalooza Chile line up and the the reason i bought the tickets 2 months ago without thinking. Not only because the staging is incredible, full of giant balloons, multicolored paper, people in weird costumes, giant laser hands adding an experimental music from another planet that makes you think of the shortness of life and enjoying every moment; but is their vocalist, the charismatic Wayne Coyne, crazy, genius, psychedelic, lover of simple things with a boundless imagination who is capable of getting into a inflatable ball and walk on the public just to be close to the fans.
Today arrives in Chile and i will love to meet him. What is certain is that he will give us an incredible show full of optimism, energy and love. Here you can see Do you realize? one of my favorites. Impossible not to cry.

Diana de Gales / Diana of Wales

Tenía 12 años cuando la Princesa Diana murió en ese horrible accidente en París. Recuerdo que esa noche me desperté como a las 4 am y de aburrida prendí la radio para ver si encontraba algo que me permitiera volver al sueño. Mientras giraba la perilla me di cuenta que todas las estaciones estaban hablando sobre un horrible accidente. Paré en una para escuchar con atención y no pude creerlo. Me quedé sentada, lloré y después fui a despertar a mis papás para contarles la noticia.
Me costó mucho dibujar a Lady Di, sobre todo esa expresión entre polite y triste, como tratando de esconder su sufrimiento para poder cumplir con su deber real.
Una de las pérdidas más tristes y lloradas de la historia.Long Live Lady Di!

I was 12 years old when Princess Diana died in that horrible accident in Paris.I remember i woke up that night at 4 am and i turned the radio to see if there was something that allowed me to return to sleep. While listening the different stations i realize that all were talking about an horrible accident. I started to listen carefully and i could not believe it. I sat in my bed and cry. Then i went to my parents bedroom to tell them the bad news.
It was hard to draw Lady Di especially the expression in her face so polite and sad, as if she was trying to hide her suffering to fulfill her royal duty.
One of the saddest and most mourned losses in history.Long Live Lady Di!

Me hubiese encantado estar en Londres para poder ver la boda real. La verdad, me intriga mucho esto del protocolo, la tradición y sobre todo los hermosos sombreros que ocupan las señoras inglesas para éstas ocasiones. Me acuerdo de las imágenes de la princesa Diana en el carruaje recorriendo las calles con su inolvidable vestido y la gente saludando y aplaudiendo, tirando arroz y pétalos de rosa. Debe ser increíble presenciar ese gran momento.
Pronto subiré más integrantes de la familia real. Creo que la próxima será Diana.

I would love to be in London to see the Royal Wedding. I found intriguing the protocol, the traditions and above all the beautiful hats the english ladies wear for these occasions. I remember the pictures of Princess Diana in the carriage with her unforgettable dress and the people waving and clapping, throwing rice and rose petals. It should be amazing to witness this great moment.
Soon i will upload more members of the royal family. I think Diana will come next.

Después de tanto evento de fin de año me pude dar el tiempo para poder publicar en el blog. El otro día mientras esperaba en el aeropuerto escuché a una niñita decirle a su mamá con mucha determinación que quería ser bailarina de ballet. Lo encontré notable! Traté de recordar con que soñaba yo y me acordé que quería ser arqueóloga o baterista. No cumplí ninguno de los dos pero todavía sueño con aprender a tocar batería.
The other day while waiting at the airport i heard a little girl telling her mother that she wanted to be a ballet dancer. I found remarkable how determined she was. I tried to remember my dreams as a child and i remembered that i wanted to be an archaeologist or a drummer. I failed to meet these dreams but i still want to learn how to play the drums.

Hace un tiempo vi unas hermosas fotos de Portugal. La ciudad era Lisboa y me sorprendí con las calles de adoquines, los coloridos mosaicos y los hermosos edificios y castillos estilo medieval. Esas estrechas calles llenas de mini tiendas, en donde había una muy especial llamada Vitoria y de la cual me trajeron unas estampillas maravillosas para mi colección, fue donde me inspiré para hacer esta ilustración. Los que tengan la oportunidad vayan! esta lleno de bares entretenidos y hostels con gente de todo el mundo. Definitivamente Lisboa será parte de mi viaje por Europa.
Some time ago i saw some beautiful photos of Portugal. The city was Lisbon and i was surprised with the cobblestone streets, colorful mosaics and beautiful medieval buildings and castles. These narrow streets full of mini shops, where there was a very special one called Vitoria that sells beautifull stamps, was where i was inspired to make this illustration. Those who have the opportunity to go there do it! there are many fun bars and hostels with people around the world. Lisbon will be definitely part of my trip to Europe.

"Sueños de Chilenos" es el proyecto con el que me titulé el 2007. Es un proyecto al que le tengo mucho cariño ya que fue mi primer acercamiento a la ilustración. El proyecto consta en el diseño de 12 estampillas, en las cuales se ilustran los sueños que los chilenos tienen para el Bicentenario de nuestro país. Para ésto, se encuestó a más de 400 chilenos de distintas edades y ciudades, y se seleccionaron los sueños más votados separándolos en 3 categorías: Identidad, Diversidad e Igualdad.

Para celebrar estos 200 años, subiré durante la semana todo el material de éste proyecto. Gracias a todas las personas que aportaron con su sueño!!

"Chilean Dreams" ( 2007 ) is my graduation project. This project means a lot to me because it was my first approach to illustration. This project consisted in the design of 12 stamps where I illustrated the dreams of chilean people for the Bicentennial of our country. In order to determine this dreams more than 400 people, of different ages and cities, were surveyed. The most voted dreams were selected separating them into three categories: Identity, Diversity and Equality.

To celebrate these 200 years, I will upload all the material of this project during the week . Thanks to everyone who contributed with their dream!

El domingo 22 de agosto del 2010 fue un gran día para Chile. Los 33 mineros que llevaban semanas atrapados bajo tierra lograron dar señales de vida. Fue una gran alegría para el país y esperamos verlos pronto en la superficie. Ésta ilustración va dedicada a ellos y sus familias.
August 22 was a great day for Chile. The 33 miners trapped underground were able to give signs of life. This was a great joy for our country and we hope to see them soon on the surface.This picture is dedicated to them and their families.

Hice este calendario el año pasado como proyecto para el taller de serigrafía que tomé en Mercado Indie. Lo pasamos muy bien! Eso si, hice muy pocas copias por lo que este año pretendo hacer la versión 2011 en tela para vender. I made this calendar last year as a proyect for serigraphy workshop i took in Mercado Indie. We had a great time! Éste dibujo lo hice durante las clases del taller de ilustración de Alberto Montt y Francisco Olea, grandes profesores y talentosos ilustradores. La idea era elegir un personaje y contar su historia pero con un giro.
Siempre me ha intrigado la historia de este teniente que se perdió y nunca encontraron rastro. Imagino que encontró un lugar increíble del cual no quiere volver.
